Over the past three years, I have been designing and maintaining a number
of websites, teaching EFL and IT subjects at HND and NVQ
level, writing, and putting together multimedia CDRom and DVD Educational
Reference material for the UK and North American Heritage, Education and Publishing
markets.

Codex is a dynamic and innovative Computer Systems Solutions Company specialising in cutting-edge new-media design and concept development. As Director, responsibilities include: executive control over all creative, operational and technical development concerning CDRom and DVD-based multimedia resource material, website and graphic image design and conceptual design and marketing strategy. As executive in charge of internal development, responsibilities cover a wide area of technical, conceptual, logistical, and creative design concerns including; concept design and planning, strategic sales marketing and identification, client targeting and first-contact, liaison and contract negotiation; costings, internal finance, capital expenditure & acquisition; resource planning and presentation; staff acquisition, management, training and development. Other work includes PC-based graphics design, project planning, software and hardware analysis, audio and audiovisual component design etc.
As a company, Codex is primarily involved with the delivery of DVD-based retail products aimed at the UK and US markets and those countries directly connected with the DVD subject (Egypt, for example). All DVD material, whether video, audio or still image, is produced in-house from self-gathered resources, manufactured externally in NTSC and PAL formats and distributed to retail outlets. Subsidiary CDRom-based products are also produced for use by libraries and educational institutions. Codex is also active in the Heritage Sector, with expertise in producing touch-screen and other new-media products for use in museums and art galleries - whether for internal staff use, as a visitor attraction unit, or retail item. |

Brief Details: |
Having decided to shift from IT training into the arena of new-media, a period of time was spent conceptualising and developing product portfolios and strategic requirements. Gorgon Design Studio was a means of maintaining income through website and graphics design whilst developing the product portfolio and methodology that eventually was to be utilised by Codex UK as forming their core business plan. Work undertaken during this period included websites for local authority agencies and art-galleries, as well as private companies and individuals. Design work garnered a number of awards from a number of institutions. |

The Bolyai János Gimnázium is a well-established and prestigious state secondary school placing a strong emphasis on foreign-language learning and computer skills, with all of it’s 540 pupils (aged 12-19) learning English through a primarily grammar and exam-topic oriented syllabus. Other work included: participation in local & national drama festivals; organisation of school presentations and publications (L2 magazines and periodicals); evening-class work on courses attended by adults (minority groups & unemployed - to age 50); ESP teaching at the local Business Polytechnic; private student teaching; design of EFL CD-Rom-based learning-resource and examination aid; initiated the integration of the EFL unit and the Computer Department; designed and implemented IT courses within both the EFL unit and the general school curriculum. |
